Who does not know Rusalka, Humoreska or the famous New World? Antonín Dvořák is known around the world as the greatest genius of Czech classical music, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer you his likeness as a motif on a T-shirt.
Antonín Leopold Dvořák was born in 1841 in Nelahozeves and originally intended to become a butcher like his father, grandfather and other ancestors. However, his parents and teachers noticed Antonín Dvořák's extraordinary musical talent, and Dvořák was able to exchange butchery for violin, organ and composition. The musician played the viola in the orchestra conducted by Bedřich Smetana, earned extra money by teaching piano and worked as an organist.
His first compositional attempts did not receive much acclaim, but Dvořák persevered and gradually conquered the whole world - he conducted his compositions at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, and toured Russia. The genius, who composed nearly 120 works of music of varying lengths during his lifetime, died in Prague in 1904.
