She was a world-famous opera singer, but also a talented writer, translator and a multi-talented and educated woman, who is now known, among other things, from the two-thousand note. Ema Destinnová was born in Prague in 1878 as Emílie Paulína Jindřiška Kittlová, and later chose her stage name after her singing teacher Marie Loewe-Destinnová. She performed at the National Theatre in Prague, Dresden, Berlin, London, New York and other cities around the world. She was also politically active - she helped the Czechoslovak Resistance in passing information to the USA during the First World War.
After her return to Bohemia, she supported the establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia by singing the anthem Kde domov můj at the end of her concerts. Ema Destinnová was very lively, intelligent and not afraid of novelties. In her youth she liked to ride a bicycle, maintained a relationship with her first professional cyclist, and even got a tattoo of a snake.
You can now proudly wear the unique photograph of Emma Destinn from 1905 in an Art Nouveau frame by Karolina Pucholtová on your T-shirt.
