Emma - men's

  • 229 Kč

A world-famous Czech opera singer, but also a talented writer, translator, and an all-round gifted and educated woman. Ema Destinnová was born in 1878 in Prague as Emílie Paulína Jindřiška Kittlová, and took her stage name from her singing teacher Marie Loewe-Destinnová. At the age of 20, Ema was rejected by the National Theatre in Prague, but she successfully launched her career in Berlin the same year. And the doors to the whole world opened for her - she performed in Dresden, London and New York, among other places, and then returned to Prague. During the First World War, she helped the resistance, supported the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia, and sang the anthem Kde domov můj at her concerts. Ema Destinnová was very lively, intelligent and not afraid of novelties. In her youth, she liked to ride a bicycle, maintained a relationship with her first professional cyclist, and even got a tattoo of a snake. The illustration of the singer was created by Ukrainian student Natalie Bazo as part of a Czech art competition.
