Crown Jewels - children's tričko

  • 179 Kč

The St.Wenceslas Crown was made in the 13th century by Charles IV for his coronation as King of Bohemia, making it the fourth oldest in Europe. Other items became part of the later.

The Crown Chamber in St. Vitus Cathedral, where the crown jewels of the Czech kings are stored, is without exaggeration the most inaccessible place in Prague Castle. The door, like the armored jewel box, has seven locks and to open it and lift the jewels, seven key holders must meet: the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Archbishop of Prague, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, the President of the Senate, the Dean of the Metropolitan Chapter of St. Vitus and the Mayor of Prague.
The tradition of the Seven Keys was established after King Leopold II granted the requests of the Czech Estates to return the jewels from Vienna to Prague in 1791. They were stored in St. Vitus Cathedral at the Castle, this time in the Crown Archives behind St. Wenceslas Chapel, behind an iron door with five locks. A special cabinet was reserved for them, equipped with two more locks, to which two guardians of the jewels were given the keys. Although the place of storage was later changed, the tradition of seven keys was maintained.
