Kubišta - women's

Who was Bohumil Kubišta? One of the leading Czech modern artists, a painter and graphic artist who lived between 1884 and 1918. Although he also created Futurist and Expressionist works, he is best known as a Cubist. For the t-shirt's theme, we chose the painting Still Life with Guitar, which was auctioned in London in 2014 for nearly £1.5 million. As an illegitimate child from a poor rural background, Kubišta had a harder path to art, but he made his talent his own. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and also worked in Florence and Paris. He was inspired by the works of Edvard Munch, but also Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Kubišta's surname also amused the poet Guillaume Apollinaire, author of, for example, The Belt, who declared that Kubišta was a cubist by birth. His famous works can be seen in the National Gallery in Prague, but also in smaller galleries across the country. For example, you can see Saint Sebastian, Still Life with a Skull or The Hypnotist.
