27 June is known in the Czech Republic as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Communist Regime. It was on this day in 1950 that Milada Horáková, a lawyer, democratic politician, feminist and fighter for women's rights, was executed. During a mock trial, this heroine was accused of espionage, preparing an anti-state coup and terrorist actions.
