The collecting branch, which deals with collecting not only matchbox stickers, is called philumenie and has a long tradition in the Czech Republic (or Czechoslovakia). The Czech Philumenist Association was founded between 1964 and 1968 and is still active today. It brings together all enthusiasts who have fallen for the charm of small stickers on boxes and matchboxes in general. What were the stickers on matches used for? Often as advertising for various businesses, but in Czechoslovakia they also had patriotic themes or promoted the "healthy lifestyle" of the time or various foods and machines.
