The Czech Lion in a new dress. More modern, simpler and with a hint of exaggeration, but still confident in its proud attitude. Designer Karolína Čaplová from the Graphic Design and Visual Communication Studio at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art in Pilsen created a design for a lion, which you can find on several of our products. How was the new Czech lion created? Graphic designers and designers have been discussing our national emblem and the need to modify it for many years, but no changes have been made so far. Even the new lion has to meet a number of conditions to be a worthy emblem - it has to have its origins in heraldic customs, respect the real physical structure of the animal and sufficiently represent and reflect the pride of our nation. Of course, it should then also have certain practical characteristics so that it can be easily used on various state printed materials and the like. The young students embarked on the redesign with zeal, and we selected from their work for Bohém an emblem that, in our opinion, represents the Czech Republic with the necessary respect and humour, but also has the necessary dynamism and lightness.
